Diman Bengal Education Foundation funds Chromebooks at Diman

Students are excited for the Chromebooks

But the work is serious.

The Diman Bengal Education Foundation presented $14,300 to the school for the 100% purchase price of 55 Chromebooks. This technology has become a resourceful tool within the English Language Arts Department and helps prepare sophomore students for MCAS 2.0 testing.

The donation did double duty, as the money enabled Diman to free up funds top purchase new calculators for the Math Department.

Holding the 2nd annual clam boil fundraising event at the South Seekonk Sports Club this month, the Foundation was able to net half of the funds presented to the school. The balance of the funding was covered by current Foundation resources.

For the second year in a row, the fundraising event was sold out. In addition to ticket sales, the event revenues were generated from donated raffle prices and sponsorships. Among the many quality raffle prizes was a signed football by NE Patriots player Rob Gronkowski. Sponsorships were led by Bay Coast Bank and included Bank Five, Mechanics Bank, Whites of Westport, RALCO, GM Refrigeration, Fernandes & Charest CPA, Mid City Scrap, Samco Plumbing & Heating, Burns Power Tool and Foundation board members.

The Foundation became an official non-profit in 2013 with the support of 17 board members, all of whom are still currently involved in the organization. Three other board members have been added over the last six years. This contribution is the third project funded by the Foundation this school year. Other support has contributed toward a van purchase and new lab tables for the Computer Programming/Web Design shop. The foundation has presented over a quarter of million dollars to Diman for shop equipment, facility improvements, and ground upgrades.
