Dear Mrs. Torres,

In 2018 the City of Fall River Department of Community Utilities decided that it should find a way to identify itself from other city departments. The Department of Community Utilities is made up of the Water and Sewer Division with over 100 employees, 40 pieces of equipment on the roadways of the city and a presence throughout the entire city; there should be a clear identifying "symbol" for our divisions.

The Deputy Administrator at the time thought that it would be great to work with the students at the Diman High School to see what they could come up with. There were two presentations to the students in the Graphic Communications and Business Technology classes. These presentations gave the students a little history of the Water and Sewer Divisions as well as some knowledge of what we do. This was structured as if they were working for a client in the work force and they were given a deadline for completion. We received over 20 final submittals.

The Department of Community Utilities had an internal review committee that reviewed and ranked the submittals. The top 5 were given the opportunity to present to the final selection group. The determination was made to go with the logo done by Amanda Marin and Hannah Chase who were presented with a Citation from the Mayor. You can see the logo on the photos above.

We would like to thank all students, teachers, and administrators who participated and teach the students every day. This was a great experience for Community Utilities, as well as the students, and we have a logo that will last a lifetime, all because of the great partnerships that Diman provides to all its students.

Respectfully,

Paul Ferland, EIT
Adm. of Community Utilities
