Diman Dental Assisting students perfect on second national exam

The tests are the first two of three exams needed for certification as a dental assistant.
“I am extremely proud of their efforts and positive result,” said their teacher, Maria Torres. “It is a difficult exam and it's critical to their employment as a dental assistant because Massachusetts requires that all dental assistants be certified in Radiation Health and Safety.”
Nationwide, the exam has a 73% pass rate, making Diman’s 100% rate notable. “The teachers set the bar for the students by their rigorous standards and this 100% pass rate validates the fact that the students are up for the challenges on their road to success and will exceed program expectations,” said Assistant Superintendent-Director/Principal Brian Bentley.
“Their success is a testimony to the dedication of the teachers in the Dental Program, as well as the complete immersion of our students in the program to attain their goals,” continued Bentley. “Congratulations to them on a job well done!”
Having passed this second exam, students will now be eligible for employment through Diman’s Cooperative Education Program.
The students will be eligible to take the final Chairside Assisting Exam after graduation and 3,200 hours in the field. Only after passing that exam do they become a certified dental assistant.
