Car will help students train on the latest technologies
Fall River, MA | JUNE 18, 2019 – Students in the automotive technology program at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School (DRVTHS) have another tool at their disposal, one that will allow them to learn about and train with new technologies that they’re likely to encounter in future employment.
That new tool is a 2015 Ford Focus 5-DR Hatchback SE, which was donated by First Ford in Fall River.
Automotive Technology Instructor Steven Cloutier contacted Ford Motor Company to ask if the company would be interested in donating a vehicle to the school’s automotive program. Boston Field Service Engineer Nick Faoro helped arrange for the donation with First Ford. Nick also enrolled the school in Ford Motor Company’s Automotive Career Exploration (ACE) program which allows students to train on Ford products with the hope of area dealers hiring them after graduation.
“We’ve donated vehicles in the past and we’re glad to do it again because we’re always eager to help the next generation of quality technicians,” said Mitch Lown, Service Manager at First Ford. “Having a car with technologies such as SYNC, cruise control, and a dual clutch automatic transmission on which to train will contribute to a good educational foundation and help train these kids for the technologies of the future.
On May 30th the team at First Ford delivered the vehicle to the automotive department at DRVTHS.
“The team at Ford was great to work with,” says Steve Cloutier. “Ford graciously set all of our students up with factory Ford training, so all students can logon via computer in class or at home and complete Ford training online. This training gives our students a huge heads up advantage when they go to look for employment. We’re so grateful for this generous donation. To be able to work on real cars, with some of the latest technologies is vital to the kids being able to succeed in their chosen career. Our partnership with First Ford is helping us keep our programs up to date and in line with industry standards.”
