Diman students find pot of gold at SkillsUSA state competition
There may well have been a leprechaun on the bus with Diman students last weekend, because they earned a pot of gold at the 39th annual SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skill Conference in Marlboro on April 26 and 27.
Diman students earned 48 medals, including 33 coveted gold medals. The gold medal winners will move onto the national SkillsUSA Championships held in June in Kansas City.
"The way the students performed and acted brought unbelievable honor to Diman. It's a credit to the students and the teachers and what they do," said Assistant Superintendent-Director/Principal Brian Bentley. "Kudos to the students and their teachers for being the best of the best! I'm so proud of their achievements."
Several of Diman's silver medalists were only beaten by other Diman students. Diman swept the top two spots in the Cabinetmaking, First Aid/CPR, Principles of Technology, and Related Technical Math competitions.
Gold medal winners were Crystal Aguiar in the Practical Nursing competition, David Barata in the Cabinetmaking competition, Krystal Botelho in the OCC competition, Emily Braga in the Chapter Business Procedure competition, Stephanie Brodeur in the Career Pathways Showcase competition, Jonathan Candido in the Dental Assisting competition, Courtney Carvalho in the OCC competition, Kaitlin Costa in the Chapter Business Procedure competition, Stephen Costa in the Action Skills competition, Jessica Couture in the Principles of Technology competition, Amanda Diogo in the Health Occupations Portfolio competition, Ivy Faria in the Chapter Business Procedure competition, Taylor Farias in the Chapter Business Procedure competition, Jonathon Ferreira in the CNC Milling competition, Aimee Forcier in the Chapter Business Procedure competition, Ruth Freeman in the Related Technical Math competition, Zaina Gouveia in the Promotional Bulletin Board competition, Lauren Kipp in the OCC competition, Kayleigh Lamothe in the Chapter Business Procedure competition, Ashley Langlais in the Career Pathways Showcase competition, Jillian Lavoie in the Promotional Bulletin Board competition, Matthew Machado in the First Aid/CPR competition, Robert Martins in the Automotive Refinishing competition, Kristy Moniz in the Prepared Speech competition, Ashley Oliveira in the OCC competition, Chelsea Oliveira in the OCC competition, Aliyah Pacheco in the Promotional Bulletin Board competition, Melinda Pereira in the OCC competition, Krystal Raposo in the Job Interview competition, Lady Ribeiro in the Exploratory Project Demo competition, Alexandra Santos in the Job Skills A competition, Jennifer Souza in the Career Pathways Showcase competition, Kassandra Sweatt in the OCC competition.
Silver medalists include Nicholas Aspessi in the Cabinetmaking competition, Lucas Dos Santos in the Robotics & Automation competition, Ashley Farias in the Photography competition, Alex Ledo in the Precision Machining competition, Jay Lee in the Electronics competition, Robin Marvel in the First Aid/CPR competition, Ben Palmer in the Related Technical Math competition, Nicholas Parente in the CNC Turning competition, William Partington in the Welding competition, Patricia Pietrass in the Medical Math competition, Corey Toupin in the Principles of Technology competition, Victoria Winters in the Robotics & Automation competition.
Bronze medalists were Hayden Boule in the Robotics & Automation competition, Ashley Cadorette in the Robotics & Automation competition, Carl Medeiros in the Sheet Metal competition.
