Diman gets grant to buy 10 new heat pumps: How HVAC students are training for the future.
A dozen students were busily bending copper tubing, working together as they measured and mounted it to a wall, each one contributing in their own small way to a cleaner climate. (3/7/24)

PHCC All-Star Announced
Congratulations to Ethan Ste. Marie (HVAC) for receiving the All Star award from the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC) at their annual trade show. Ethan's hard work, professionalism and dedication helped him earn this title, which includes a $500 scholarship and a tool bag filled with industry tools donated by Ferguson. (5/2/23)

Liberty Utilities training for HVACR students
The HVACR department would like to thank Liberty Utilities for inviting our grade 10 students to attend the DigSafe MUST Managing Underground Safety Training seminar at White’s of Westport on Wednesday 3/1/23. Our students learned about digging safety and to always call 811 to have DigSafe mark underground utilities safely. It’s the Law! (3/2/23)

HVACR thanks ENE Systems
The HVACR department would like to thank Mike Papetti from ENE Systems, Inc. for speaking to all of our students about career opportunities in the controls field! ENE Systems, Inc. is the largest independent HVAC Controls contractor in New England, and Papetti was able to share information about facilities management, tips to enter the industry and demonstrations of live viewing of real life control systems. Looking for a job? You’re in luck, with experts saying that the current job market offers historic levels of open positions across a wide swath of industries. “It’s the first time when the leverage is really in employees’ hands,” said Kevin Lazaro, Director of Cooperative Education at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. “I’ve seen a lot of changes, but I’ve never seen such a boon of job opportunities across a multitude of industries.” (6/15/22)

Rockwool demonstration enhances building science knowledge
Thank you to Rockwool (@rockwoolna) for the building science presentation and demonstration. Expert Nick Stone did an excellent job expanding our students' knowledge of proper wall assembly design, thermal envelopes, controlling dew points within a wall assembly, and the pros and cons of various insulation products. Students were engaged and shown another career pathway in building science that now more than ever needs to be implemented to meet the energy code and create a safe, healthy living space. (3/17/22)

Donations to Diman do double duty
One donation benefited two shops recently at Diman, when Liberty Utilities donated equipment to both the Plumbing program and the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration program. The equipment was donated in March of 2018 and included two unused furnaces, a used furnace, an air condenser, and a pair of industrial-sized heaters. (3/27/18)

Single, foster mom winner of Fall River home built by Diman students
A single, foster mom of three children has her shot at moving out of her apartment and into her own home. Donna Handler’s number was chosen by lottery Friday afternoon to purchase a home on Duluth Street built by the students of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. (5/30/17)

Other than getting your kids more education than you ever had, home ownership is probably the most-desired piece of the American Dream.
