  • All in the Family: Moniz sisters keep it real at home and on Diman, Westport tennis courts

    Joseph and Lucy Moniz have maintained one specific rule in their household of 10 for nearly three decades.  Each of their children must participate in high school sports. The Westport couple feels sports teach you things beyond what you learn in the classroom. (5/17/22)

  • Diman DECA success

    Diman DECA would like to recognize the members who competed at the Massachusetts DECA 63rd state competition in Boston on the weekend of March 12, 2022. Diman sent 14 members to this conference to compete in various business and entrepreneur events.  We would like to congratulate Culinary Arts seniors Makayla Goncalves and Jahayra Wilches for placing second in the School Based Enterprise in Food.  (3/15/22)

  • Rockwool demonstration enhances building science knowledge

    Thank you to Rockwool (@rockwoolna) for the building science presentation and demonstration. Expert Nick Stone did an excellent job expanding our students' knowledge of proper wall assembly design, thermal envelopes, controlling dew points within a wall assembly, and the pros and cons of various insulation products. Students were engaged and shown another career pathway in building science that now more than ever needs to be implemented to meet the energy code and create a safe, healthy living space. (3/17/22)

  • PHCC All-Stars Announced

    Congratulations to both Logan Sandbichler (HVAC) and Kyle Cabral (Plumbing) for receiving the All Star awards from the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC) at their annual trade show last Saturday.  Logan and Kyle’s hard work, professionalism and dedication helped them earn this title, which includes a $500 scholarship and a tool bag filled with industry tools.   • SkillsUSA Regionals Results

    Diman is happy to announce that our students won 39 medals at the SkillsUSA District 2 Competition, held on 3/2/22 at Diman. Our students earned 23 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze medals. All 32 gold and silver medal winners will advance to the Massachusetts State Conference in Marlboro in April. Some bronze medalists might also be invited. (3/14/22)

  • Fall River City Council approves plan for $293 million Diman project - here's what comes next

    The City Council signed off on Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School’s plan to construct a new building, moving the $293 million project closer to final approval. “They do a phenomenal job with what they have now. Imagine what they could do with a new state-of-the-art facility,” said councilor Joseph Camara. (2/28/22)

  • Somerset Special Town Meeting approves plan for a new Diman building

    A Special Town Meeting on Monday night approved the plan for Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School to construct a new building, allowing the project to move on to the next phase. “It feels amazing to be another step closer to where we want to be,” said Elvio Ferreira, Superintendent of Diman’s school district.   • The new Diman has state funding. Next, Greater Fall River residents will get to weigh in.

    Now that Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School has secured state funding for a new building, proponents are stepping up their efforts to encourage residents to support the project. “They have now made the cut,” said Sally Cameron, who’s working with a private outreach committee that formed to garner local support for the project.   • Got a question? Diman rolls out new strategy for engaging families

    Diman is trying a new tactic to help parents and families engage with their children’s education, with a new outreach program that aims to answer any question a family might have. “We only have them from 7:30 to 2:30… if they’re going home to a structure that isn’t prepared to support them, it’s a missed opportunity,” said Andrew Rebello, principal at Diman.   • Diman Eagle Scout candidate is leading the way along the Bioreserve's nature trails

    Joe Lariviere Jr. is keeping alive the Scouting tradition of leading the way and blazing new trails. Lariviere, a 17-year-old senior at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, has built an information kiosk in the Southeastern Massachusetts Bioreserve to guide hikers along some of the area’s trails.   • Fall Protection Training at Diman

    Diman students and teachers in the construction cluster trades participated in a full day of fall protection training. In collaboration with #BurnsPowerTools and #Wernerladder our students and Teachers were able to participate in a hands on demonstration learning the Osha standards, different parts of a fall arrest system, proper use and equipment for different types of fall hazards, proper fitment, different style anchoring methods for a variety of applications, along with what to do should you experience a fall while using a safety harness.   • Diman will provide free period products in rest rooms for students

    Diman will stock restrooms with free menstrual products this year in an effort to help students who might struggle to get them otherwise. "Free accessibility will help students who do not have access to products avoid embarrassment and anxiety," Principal Andrew Rebello said. (8/12/21)

  • Fourth straight best-in-state in Vocab Bowl

    Diman is proud to announce its fourth straight win as Massachusetts state champions in Vocab Bowl! Mastering over 97,000 words this year, Diman students have proven that, despite the pandemic and challenges of remote learning, we are now, more than ever, #DimanStrong.   • Diman dedicates Carpentry shop to Ronald Silvia, Sr.

    Diman has rededicated the Carpentry-Cabinetmaking Shop in memory of Ronald Silvia, Sr. A 1963 graduate of the Carpentry Shop, Silvia joined the carpenter’s union after high school, worked in the trade for many years, returned to Diman to teach his trade, and then at retirement was elected to the Diman School Committee.
