  • Diman Hall of Fame Accepting Nominations

    The committee for the Diman Hall of Fame is accepting new nominations until February 28th, 2019. Started in 1998, this recognition is unique because it accepts nominations for Diman graduates, retired and former staff, and community individuals or groups that have supported the school. In addition, past inductees become future voters for this honor, not the committee. (1/4/19)

  • "Operation Chrismas" yields nearly 300 toys

    Students and staff from Dental Assisting and Culinary Arts teamed together to keep up the tradition of the Annual Toy Drive which was started many years ago by Mrs. Maria Torres. Close to 300 toys will be donated to “Operation Christmas”, the annual toy giveaway at Citizens for Citizens, who have about 4,000 people signed up to receive toys, all of whom signed up in advance. Culinary Arts department donated the profits from the annual gingerbread house event to Diman’s Key Club, who donated the proceeds back to the toy drive. Culinary Arts department also held a raffle in Room 251. The Dental Assisting program have been collecting toys in the shop and faculty members have been very generous. (12/14/18)

  • Math Team Finds Path to Victory

    For the second year in a row, the Diman Regional Math Team won first place at the annual vocational league competition, this time hosted by Bay Path Voc-Tech in Charlton, MA on Monday 11/19. Team captain Marcus Banoub led Diman's A Team to victory over Bay Path, Greater Lawrence, Bristol Plymouth, Norfolk, Greater Lowell, Essex, and Madison Park. New members Owen Morris, William Girard, and Adam Bouchard all contributed to the team win. (11/19/18)

  • Diman’s Mya Parker: At home anywhere on the soccer pitch

    During a recent conversation with Diman Regional girls’ soccer coach Flo Lima, a reporter reminded Lima of something he had previously said about senior Mya Parker. That she is Diman’s best forward. That she is Diman’s best midfielder. That she is Diman’s best defender. “And,” Lima added in all seriousness, “she’s our best goalkeeper.” (11/2/18)

  • Patio dedicated to Frank Santos, '72

    Recently at Diman Regional, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to dedicate the newly built dining terrace that is connected to the school's public dining room. The site was dedicated to Frank Santos, a 1972 Diman Culinary Arts graduate. Santos has been a board member and major contributor of the Diman Bengal Education Foundation since it started in 2013. In his professional life he is CFO/Vice President of Rosen Resorts & Hotels in Orlando Florida. The terrace was built with funds from the school budget, Foundation contribution and an allocation from the Fall River Rotary Club. (10/4/18)

  • Health Assisting students earn CNA certification

    29 Health Assisting juniors have completed the Nurse Aide Training Program, which begins in the freshman year and continues through the junior year. Training involves a clinical rotation at Kimwell Healthcare in Fall River, where students are given a resident assignment and apply knowledge and skills learned in shop to care for residents in a long-term care setting.   • Donations to Diman do double duty

    One donation benefited two shops recently at Diman, when Liberty Utilities donated equipment to both the Plumbing program and the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration program. The equipment was donated in March of 2018 and included two unused furnaces, a used furnace, an air condenser, and a pair of industrial-sized heaters. (3/27/18)

  • Diman restaurant terrace to be built

    Diman's Room 251 restaurant will be moving outdoors when the school builds an outside terrace that's largely financed by the Diman Bengal Education Foundation (DBEF). This outside dining area will be dedicated in honor of 1972 culinary arts graduate Frank Santos who is the CFO/Operations Officer for Rosen Resorts and Hotels in Orlando Florida. Santos is a member of the Foundation Board and has been the largest financial contributor since this organization was started in 2013. (3/23/18)

    AA Precision Machine Co. and the Diman Bengal Education Foundation recently donated a 3-D printer to the Machine Tool Technology program at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School in memory of Brian David Levesque.     State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, Chair of the Massachusetts School Building Authority ("MSBA"), and MSBA Executive Director/Deputy CEO Jack McCarthy announced today that the MSBA Board of Directors voted to invite Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, located in the City of Fall River, into the MSBA’s Eligibility Period. During the 270-day Eligibility Period, the MSBA will work with the Regional School District to determine the District’s financial and community readiness to enter the MSBA Capital Pipeline.     Don’t tell 329 graduates of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School that Thursday was a cloudy night. With mortarboard messages like “And the adventure begins,” “She believed she could do it so she did” and “Diman 2017-UMD 2021” — and dozens and dozens more creatively decorated — the orange- and black-clad graduates marched onto John P.     Harvard Medical wants Dylan Barcelos, but not as a student (at least, not yet): he’s going to work with Harvard associates to be a researcher.   • Diman students show off their SkillsUSA

    Diman’s annual march to SkillsUSA success began anew on Thursday, March 4, when they earned 59 medals (21 gold, 21 silver, and 17 bronze) at the District 2 competition held at Southeastern Regional Voc-Tech. All 42 students that earned gold or silver medals will advance to the SkillsUSA Massachusetts State Competition in Marlboro on April 27-29.   • ‘No regrets’: How heart disease changed the life of a Diman employee

    Having a serious heart condition changed the course of Michaela Gagne Hetzler's life, but new research proved recently that her disorder was more benign than threatening.

    Hetzler was diagnosed when she was 17 with Long QT Syndrome, a heart arrhythmia that is activated by physical activity and can cause fainting and even sudden death. (3/7/17)

  • Carpentry-Cabinetmaking Program hammers away at new technology

    Hammers and nails have been joined by advanced machinery and computers in Diman Carpentry-Cabinetmaking shop. Students still learn traditional carpentry, but visitors to the program would also see students programming advanced CNC (computer-numeric controlled) machines to carve intricate designs and patterns into wood.     Diman is pleased to announce that recently retired teacher Edward Carreiro has won the American Welding Society’s “Howard E.   • Diman receives more guitars from local groups

    Ray Mullin Music and The Kevin Wright Celebration of Music have boosted Diman’s nascent music program for the second time in a year with a donation of guitars. The Swansea shop teamed with the local charity to donate four guitars and a box of strings to the program, an after-school club geared to teaching students and staff how to play the six-string.   • Diman football tackles local veterans’ needs

    There was a silver lining to the playoff defeat of Diman’s football team at the hands of Mashpee: fans at the game helped provide food and services to local military veterans. Instead of charging admission to the game, Diman requested that attendees donate non-perishable food and/or money. The accumulated donation of $541 and a pallet of food were then given to the Veterans Administration of Bristol County through a connection with the Fall River Police Department. (11/10/16)

  • Focus on Fall River: Diman and UMass collaborate on photo project

    Fall River will come into sharp focus this year when the students in the Photography Club at Diman Regional and sociology students at UMass Dartmouth collaborate to photograph the people and neighborhoods of the city. Diman students will be honing their photography skills and learning how to photograph the people and neighborhoods as they take photographs of their family, friends, and neighborhoods, local businesses, places of worship and parks, and various places that are important to them around the city.   • Diman student earns delayed medal at SkillsUSA Nationals

    Hannah Amarantes was done with SkillsUSA, but SkillsUSA wasn’t done with her. A 2016 Diman graduate, Amarantes had competed in this summer’s SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, where she had earned a strong-but-heartbreaking fourth place finish in the Medical Terminology contest. That fourth place finish turned into a bronze medal in September when SkillsUSA reviewed the competition and determined that she had, indeed, earned third place. (10/19/16)

  • Guitar heroes at Diman

    Members of the Diman community can be real Guitar Heroes on Sunday, November 6th (from 1-5 p.m.) when Diman will hold its second-annual Rockin’ For Scholarships fundraiser. The fundraiser raised over $1,000 for scholarships given by the Diman Alumni Association in last year’s inaugural concert, but organizer Tom Branco is convinced that this year will be even more successful. “We’ll raise a lot more this time,” he said enthusiastically.   • Health Assisting juniors: ready for the real world

    Diman is proud to announce that all Health Assisting juniors have completed the Nurse Aide Training Program and have passed the Massachusetts Nurse Aide Certification Exam. The certification exam is composed of both written and hands-on skills tests. The nurse aide training program begins in the freshman year and continues through the junior year.

    Training involves a clinical rotation at Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center in Somerset, where students are given a resident assignment and apply knowledge and skills learned in shop to the real workplace setting. (6/8/16)

    As Jonathan Candido, the valedictorian of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School’s Class of 2014, opened his address to his fellow graduates, he paused. While on the stage in the middle of Diman’s football field, Candido tore up his “speech” and pulled out a binder, thick with pages.     Something fishy happened at Diman on Tuesday, April 23, when a pair of chefs from Roger Williams University demonstrated sushi-making skills to Diman's Culinary Artsstudents and staff. After the chefs, Sai Khun and Nyi Zaw, explained the history and art of sushi-making, students were able to get their hands sticky.     Pi. It’s the transcendental number “3.14…” used to calculate the area, perimeter, and volume of circles and cylinders. Every year, math departments and enthusiasts celebrate “Pi Day” on March 14 (3/14), but this year’s celebration will be bigger, because the date will be 3/14/15, which corresponds to the next two digits of pi (3.1415) and only happens once a century.
