    Dear Diman Community,

    The COVID-era of education has disrupted our normal school processes, routines, and structure. The objective of our weekly preparation email is to empower students and families. With the appropriate preparation and understanding of school processes, students will be set up for a successful school year. 

    Contained within each email, you will find detailed information preparing our stakeholders each week, including information regarding student transportation, arrival/dismissal processes, class transition, and more. While the weekly preparation correspondence may not answer all questions you have regarding the new school year, contained below, you will find contact information for school personnel to answer any questions via email or phone.

    School procedures may be modified over the next year in response to the needs of our students, state mandates, and other factors that pivot the course of our educational landscape. While aspects of our processes and procedures may change, our focus on providing students with academic, vocational, and socio-emotional growth will not.

    Diman remains committed to being the school system our community, state, and nation need us to be - an institution that produces life-ready graduates ready to shape the future and the world positively.

    The weekly updates that follow will serve as a guide to help navigate the next several months together. We are committed to making sure that every child is fully supported, engaged, and safe as we embark on 2021-2022. I remain honored to serve as your Assistant Superintendent-Principal.

    I hope everyone had an amazing weekend and Memorial Day! We remember, honor, and thank the selfless heroes who courageously gave their lives to protect our freedom.

    Weekly Preparation

    • Tuesday, May 30, is a B Week C Day.
    • Tuesday, May 30, we will hold the Photo Club field trip after school. 
    • Tuesday, May 30, we will hold virtual math tutoring from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
    • Tuesday, May 30th we will host a virtual forum entitled "How to Build "Old School" Resilience in a "New Age" World" at 9:00am-10:00am and 6:00pm-7:00pm via Zoom.  CLICK HERE to sign up for one of these sessions and hear from Taneyri DeJesus from Project Legacy X. 
    • Wednesday, May 31, at 8:00 a.m., there will be a brief informational meeting regarding the class trip for grade 9 students in the auditorium. An announcement will be made for teachers to escort their students.
    • Thursday, June 1, we will hold the Senior Prom at the Newport Marriot. Seniors should check their email for further details.
    • Students failing core subjects will be mandated to attend summer school at a cost. Students who fail core subjects, and do not pass summer school, will be forced to repeat the year. 
    • Students failing a class have multiple opportunities to improve their grades and get extra help. Please remember after-school teacher help, EXTENDS after-school support in the library, and late buses Monday-Thursday.

    May is moving quickly! Continue to do the right thing to ensure you finish this school year strong.

    Weekly Preparation

    • Monday, May 22, is a B Week D Day.
    • Wednesday, May 24, we will hold our drop-in center for all students in Room 251. All students are welcome to connect with other students and adults. 
    • Wednesday, May 24, we will hold our CNA Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. 
    • Wednesday, May 24, we will hold virtual math tutoring from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
    • Thursday, May 25, we will hold two grade-level assemblies. 
      • 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.: All grade 9 students report to the auditorium at the announcement. (students will report back to period 2)
      • 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.: All grade 10 students report to the auditorium at the announcement. (students will be dismissed at the 10:57 a.m. bell)

    Happy Mother's Day to all mothers and mother figures in our Diman Community! I hope all students and families had an enjoyable weekend.

    We are pushing toward the end of the school year. Ensure you are in dress code, passing your classes, and showing up on time every day to make for a successful end to this school year. 

    Weekly Preparation

    • Monday, May 15, is an A Week D Day.
    • Tuesday, May 16, and Wednesday, May 17, we will hold the Math MCAS. Tuesday and Wednesday will be A Days. Separate emails will be sent with all details for students. 
    • Wednesday, May 17, we will hold virtual math tutoring from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
    • Wednesday, May 17, we will hold our National Honor Society Ceremony at 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Live stream it here.

    Good afternoon!

    I hope everyone has had a great long weekend. I am incredibly proud of all the students who participated in DECA, BPA, and SkillsUSA over the past week. Personally attending SkillsUSA this weekend, I witnessed the Diman Difference in action. Our students were prepared, gave their best effort, and, most notably, exhibited what it means to be a Diman student through their respect and professionalism all weekend. I will send along the results to our community in the coming days!

    I hope everyone has had an amazing, restful, and safe April Vacation. We are in the home stretch of the school year. There is plenty of time to bring up low grades. With the number of help opportunities, there is NO reason to be failing courses and have to attend summer school or not graduate. See all the extra help opportunities below.

    • Monday, April 24, we will hold spring sports pictures from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
    • Tuesday, April 25, we will hold virtual math tutoring from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
    • Wednesday, April 26, we will hold our drop-in center for all students in Room 251. All students are welcome to connect with other students and adults. 
    • Friday, April 28, there will be no school for students as teachers will have a professional development day.

    Going into April Vacation, speak with all your teachers about where you stand in class/shop, and finish this week strong!

    Weekly Preparation

    • Monday, April 10, is an A Week F Day.
    • Monday, April 10, we will hold a FREE event for all parents. Please join us at 6:00 p.m. in the Diman Auditorium for Jon Mattleman and his presentation, "The Secret Lives of Teens and Tweens."
    • Wednesday, April 12, we will hold an 11:58 a.m. dismissal for students. Student-athletes with practices can wait in the student cafeteria after school if they do not have transportation. 
    • Wednesday, April 12, we will hold virtual math tutoring from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
    • Friday, April 14, will be a 12:28 p.m. dismissal for students. 
    • There will be no school from April 17 - April 21 for April Vacation. 
    • Please join Diman Family Connection as we virtually welcome the Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III on Tuesday, April 11 via Zoom at 9:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. as he spends time discussing with parents the different laws that can potentially impact our youth.     • Monday, April 3, we will hold an assembly for all freshmen students in the auditorium at 8:00 a.m. Students will be escorted by their teachers when an announcement is made. 
    • Tuesday, April 4, we will hold virtual math tutoring from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
    • Wednesday, April 5, we will hold our drop-in center for all students in Room 251. All students are welcome to connect with other students and adults. 
    • Class Trips and Prom will be here soon! Students who are not in good academic standing or have outstanding credit recovery/Saturday School will not be allowed to attend.
    • We have turned on notifications for families who have an ASPEN parent portal to receive emails when:
    • To ensure the safety of our students, we will increase supervision in all areas throughout the school (locker room, bathroom, lunches). Students must follow our Code of Conduct at all times. Discipline will be issued for students who are unable to meet this expectation.

  • Weekly Preparation for 3/26/23

    Good morning!

    The primary purpose of our high school is to prepare you for life. Mastering the ability to do the small things now (show up to school every day, stay on top of homework, and act appropriately while you are here) will help you be prepared for life after graduation, and you will be ahead of many.

    I commend the majority of our students who have worked hard and made strides in their academic, vocational, and personal lives. It's important to remember that the effort you put in now will have a significant impact on your future. By pushing yourself to do your best and stay focused on your goals, you're setting yourself up for success.

    I urge all students to reflect on their behavior, daily habits, and actions. Ask yourself if your efforts are helping or hindering your growth as well as the growth of those around you. If you find that you could be doing better, I encourage you to consciously improve. Small changes in behavior and habits can have a significant impact on your life.

    I understand that this can be a challenging time of year. Please check your grades, ask for help when needed, and continue to do the right thing every day. If your attendance is down, that will only set you back. At the bottom of this email, you will see multiple support options to help your grades. Please take advantage of them!

    Weekly Preparation

    • Monday, March 20, is a B Week C Day.
    • Tuesday, March 21, Bristol Community College will hold its admissions palooza for seniors at Diman. Students will report to the library at their assigned appointment and meet with admissions counselors for approximately 15 minutes. Interested and haven't signed up yet? 
    • Tuesday, March 21, from 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., we will hold the AP Biology Mock Exam in the auditorium.
    • Wednesday, March 22, we will hold an 11:58 a.m. dismissal for students. 
    • Wednesday, March 22, from 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., we will hold the AP Statistics Mock Exam in the auditorium.
