HOUSEBUILDING/FACILITIES SUB-COMMITTEE MINUTES

AUGUST 12, 2021
In attendance: Paul Jennings, Donald DiBiasio (entered at 4:52 p.m.), Joan Menard, Gregory Brilhante, Elvio Ferreira, and Andrew Rebello.
The meeting began with a roll call at 4:41 p.m.
It was moved by Ms. Menard, seconded by Mr. Jennings, and voted unanimously to dispense with the reading of the June 17, 2021 minutes and approve them, as recorded.
Dr. Ferreira reported on the Civil Rights Audit – Parking Lot agenda item. The bids came in higher than the budget that was developed ($50,000 - $100,000) at $287,000 and $530,000. The administration is recommending that the job be re-bid with a budget of $150,000 with alternates for lighting and landscaping. Attorney Brilhante explained that the architect is willing to meet with the school to change the specs of the project before going out to re-bid.
It was moved by Ms. Menard, seconded by Mr. Jennings and voted unanimously to approve the $150,000 base budget with alternate bids.
Mrs. Torres reported that there are new community projects requests that have come in and will need to be assessed.
Attorney Brilhante reported on the 2021-22 Housebuilding Project Application agenda item. The contract will be ready next week to sign with Mr. Silvia. The construction may begin in October.
Dr. Ferreira reported on the District Office Project. The project is expected to be completed at the beginning of October and the furniture will be delivered at the end of October. He suggested that the decision be made by the Committee with respect to the move date.
Dr. Ferreira reported on the Carpentry CNC Center request to name the center after an individual. The request will go to the full Committee for approval.
Dr. Ferreira reported on the City of Fall River Project Request to fabricate the city seal on the walls outside of the city hall. The project completion is expected for the spring of 2022. Metal Fabrication and Welding will be the program completing the work.
Mr. DiBiasio asked about the parking lot project – with the LPN Program move, will it give the school more parking spaces? Dr. Ferreira explained that the LPN students parked in the student parking lot and it depends on the time of year with new student drivers.
It was moved by Ms. Menard, seconded by Mr. DiBiasio, and voted unanimously to adjourn the Sub-Committee meeting at 4:55 p.m.
