Carpentry-Cabinetmaking Student Earns National Recognition

Carpentry-Cabinetmaking Student Earns National Recognition

Ten first responders nationwide will be honored on Monday, October 28, at Times Square in New York City, during National First Responders Day.

One of those honored is Diman's very own Ben Courville, a sophomore and carpentry student.

This summer, a Dighton junior firefighter candidate was attending dinner at the Fall River Pub 99 when his mother noticed a girl was choking. Ben sprung to action, performed the Heimlich Maneuver on her, and dislodged the obstruction, saving her life.

On Monday, Ben will proudly receive the Junior First Responder award from the First Responders Children's Foundation. He’ll stand alongside nine other incredible first responders and meet with the New York Police Department and the New York Fire Department.
