ELA Letter 2022
January 21, 2022
On March 22nd and 23rd of 2022, the English Language Arts (ELA) portion of the MCAS exam will be administered to all Massachusetts sophomores. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) mandates that only those students who score above 472 on the ELA portion of the MCAS exam and successfully meet the school's graduation requirements may receive a high school diploma.
Diman's administration and faculty wish to provide our students with every opportunity to be successful. In support of this goal, Diman offers an MCAS Preparation Academy. Diman will seek teacher input to identify those students who struggled in either Algebra 1 or Geometry and students who have never taken the MCAS exam as eligible for participation in Diman's MCAS Preparation Academy.
By participating in the ELA MCAS Preparation Academy, students will enhance targeted skills geared toward improving their performance on the ELA portion of the MCAS exam. Attention will be given to reviewing key concepts, such as reading comprehension, question analysis, and the writing process. Students enrolled in this program will enhance their ELA related skills. Students will also practice with TestNav, the computer platform utilized for this exam.
The Saturday ELA MCAS Preparation Academy will run from 8:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. on
February 12th, February 19th, March 5th, March 12th, and March 19th.
Please use the link below to fill-out the enrollment form no later than Friday, February 4th, 2022. MCAS Academy sessions will be held in-person as long as state health guidelines permit. In order to maintain more individualized instruction and social distancing, only the first forty (40) enrollment submissions will be accepted for enrollment in the program.
