Alexis Medeiros | Advanced Manufacturing
The Advanced Manufacturing Program has named Alexis Medeiros of Fall River as their Outstanding Vocational Student. A graduate of Saint Michael’s School, Alexis is the daughter of Alexander Medeiros. Alexis is also the recipient of the John P. Harrington Award. During her time at Diman, Alexis has earned honors all four years at Diman, She is also a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship recipient. She has been an active member of the Advanced Manufacturing Advisory Board for two years. She also served on the Ambassador’s Club for two years, and was a student representative board member. Alexis is a member of SkillsUSA, where she earned a gold medal at the District Competition in her senior year in CNC Turning and a district bronze medal in her sophomore year. Alexis has been a member of the varsity girls tennis team all four years, junior varsity hockey for three years, and the volleyball team all four years. Alexis is employed through Diman’s Cooperative Education Program as a Machinist at Accudynamics in Lakeville. Alexis has been accepted to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where she will major in Mechanical Engineering, and minor Business
Michael Calouro | Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing
The Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing Program is pleased to announce Michael Calouro as their Outstanding Vocational Student. The son of Michelle and Mario Calouro, Michael lives in Fall River and is a graduate of the Atlantis Charter School. During his time at Diman Michael made the Principal’s List his freshman and sophomore years and Michael earned Honors his junior and senior years. As a member of SkillsUSA, Michael competed in the Refinishing Competition during his senior year. Michael was a member of the Junior Varsity baseball team his freshman year and Varsity team during his sophomore and senior years. Michael plans to attend Diman Regional’s Division of Continuing Education to pursue a career in Electricity.
Chelsey DeMedeiros | Automotive Technology
Chelsey DeMedeiros of Fall River has been named the Automotive Technology Program’s Outstanding Vocational Student. A graduate of Edmond P. Talbot Middle School, Chelsey is the daughter of Dina Rodrigues Freire. Chelsey is also the recipient of the Stanley J. Remiesiewicz Award. Chelsey was a member of the softball team for three years, and volunteered at the local soup kitchen during her junior year. Chelsey is currently employed as a Service Technician through Diman’s Cooperative Education Program at Saccucci Honda in Middletown, RI. Chelsey plans to continue in her trade as a Service Technician.
Tyler Ferreira | Building and Property Maintenance
The Building and Property Maintenance Program is pleased to announce that Fall River’s Tyler Ferreira has been named the Outstanding Vocational Student. A graduate of Argosy Collegiate Charter Middle School, Tyler is the son of Stacey Pacheco and Steven Ferreira. He demonstrated his vocational skills by competing in SkillsUSA, earning a second place medal in Power Equipment at the District Competition in his sophomore year. Tyler also participated in The Trade Fair during his junior year. Tyler will continue in his trade and work to obtain his Apprentice License through Diman’s Evening School of Continuing Education School.
Jersey Anne Espinola | Business Technology
Jersey Anne Espinola has been named the Outstanding Vocational Student for the Business Technology Program. The daughter of Josephine and Jeffrey Espinola, Jersey lives in Fall River and is a graduate of the Henry Lord Community School. She has achieved high honors all four years while at Diman. Jersey is a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, as well as the Johnson and Wales and the University of Rhode Island’s Presidential Academic Scholarship. Jersey participated in Dual Enrollment her junior year and is a member of SkillsUSA where she won the Fall State Leadership Conference Leadership Award in her junior and senior years. Jersey is involved in her community by volunteering at the Diman’s Open House, Accepted Student Night, Freshman Orientation, Student Ambassador, and the American Cancer Society’s Greater Fall River Relay For Life. Jersey was a member of DECA for sophomore, junior and senior years, and Key club all four years while at Diman. Jersey is currently employed through Diman’s Cooperative Education Program at First Ford in Fall River as a Cashier/Receptionist. Jersey will be attending Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science and plans to major in Pre-Med, and Health Studies.
Tara Andrade | Carpentry-Cabinetmaking
Tara Andrade of Fall River has been named the Carpentry- Cabinetmaking Program’s Outstanding Vocational Student. A graduate of the Edmond P. Talbot Middle School, Tara is the daughter of Marie and Gabriel Andrade. Tara is a recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and she is a member of the National Honor Society. She has earned honors during her freshman and sophomore years she also received high honors in her junior and senior years. Tara also earned academic excellence in Geometry in her sophomore year. Tara will be attending Bristol Community College where she will major in Engineering Technology Architectural and Civil Technology Program.
Nina Fauci | Culinary Arts
The Culinary Arts Program is pleased to announce Nina Fauci of Fall River as their Outstanding Vocational Student. A graduate of the Holy Trinity School, Nina is
the daughter of Maggie and Marc Fauci. She earned the Academic Excellence award in history her sophomore year. While at Diman, Nina was a contributor to the Literary Magazine in her freshman and sophomore years. As a freshman, Nina was a member of Diman’s Softball team and she was a member of the Basketball team during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. Nina’s future plans include attending Community College of Rhode Island where she will major in Liberal Arts with an English concentration. She then plans on transferring to Emerson College and majoring in writing, literature, and publishing.Shailee Pires | Dental Assisting
The Dental Assisting Program is pleased to announce Shailee Pires of Fall River as their Outstanding Vocational Student. A graduate of the Atlantis Charter Middle School, Shailee is the daughter of Deborah Santos and Eric Pires. Shailee earned honors her junior year, and high honors her freshman, sophomore, and senior years. Shailee participated in the Theater and Photography Club during her freshman year. She was also a member of the Key Club her sophomore and junior years. Shailee also competed in the SkillsUSA Dental Competition during her junior year. Shailee served as a member of the Dental Assisting Advisory Board her sophomore, junior and senior years. Through Diman’s Cooperative Education Program, Shailee is employed at Health First Family Care Center in Fall River. Shailee’s future plans include attending Rhode Island College to major in Radiology Technology or attending the University of Massachusetts to study Biology.
Damian Ruest | Drafting
This year’s Outstanding Vocational Student for the Drafting Program is Damian Ruest. A Fall River resident, Damian is a graduate of the Morton Middle School and is the son of Cheryl Ferreira. Damian is a recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. Damian was a member of the Table Top Gaming Club during his freshman and sophomore years. Damian’s future plans include attending Bristol Community College where he will major in Mechanical Engineering, then transferring to the University Of Massachusetts where he will continue his studies in Mechanical Engineering.
Storm Tripp | Electricity
Fall River’s Storm Tripp has been named the Outstanding Vocational Student for the Electricity Program. A graduate of Morton Middle School, Storm is the son of April Tripp. Storm is the recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. He earned high honors his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He was a member of the Table Top Gaming Club during his junior year. He intends to continue on to Diman’s Evening School Journeyman Electrical Code class and become a Journeyman Electrician.
Preston DaPonte | Electronics
The Electronics Program is pleased to announce Preston DaPonte, of Westport as their Outstanding Vocational Student. A graduate of Westport Junior Senior High School, Preston is the son of Jennifer and Philip DaPonte of Westport. Preston participated in Dual Enrollment during his junior year, and was the Vice President of the Drama Club. During his free time, Preston volunteered at the Westport Food Pantry his freshman year. Preston was a member of the Track and Field team his freshman year. Preston will be attending the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in the fall to pursue a degree in the field of Computer Engineering.
Aiden Falcone | Graphic Communications
Swansea resident Aiden Falcone has been named the Graphic Communications Program’s Outstanding Vocational Student. Aiden is the daughter of David Falcone and Mary Nordby. She is a recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and has been a member of the National Honors Society through her junior and senior years. Aiden has achieved high honors during all four years while at Diman. A graduate of Joseph Case Junior High School, Aiden was a member of the Table Top Gaming Club during her sophomore and junior years and the guitar club her freshman year. Throughout her high school career, Aiden has volunteered at East Bay Martial Arts. Aiden’s plans include attending the Massachusetts College of Arts and Design to pursue a degree in Communications Media.
Brianna Correia | Health Assisting
The Outstanding Vocational Student for the Health Assisting Program is Brianna Correia. A Fall River resident, Brianna is the daughter of Michelle and Daniel Correia and a graduate of the Atlantis Charter Middle School. Brianna has earned high honors all four years while at Diman and has been named a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship recipient. She is a member of the National Honor Society and participated in Dual Enrollment during her sophomore year. Brianna received the academic award in Math and History her freshmen year and the Dean Vaughn award for Medical Terminology her junior year. Brianna has been committed and involved at Diman as an athlete, receiving the Sportsmanship award her junior year, was a member of the girls Varsity Soccer team all four years at Diman, serving as co-captain during her senior year. She volunteered at the South Coast Health Soup Kitchen and Espirito Santo Parish festivities her freshman year, and she has served as an event volunteer for the Relay For Life the past four years. Brianna is currently employed through Diman’s Cooperative Education Program at the Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River as a Certified Nurse Aid. She will attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where she will major in Nursing.
Corey Cuvellier | Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration
The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Program is pleased to announce that Corey Cuvellier, of Fall River has earned their Outstanding Vocational Student Award. Corey is the son of Amy Souza and Matthew Cuvellier. Corey is a graduate of the Westport Middle School. Corey is a member of the National Honor Society. He has earned a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. Corey was also selected as Diman’s Massachusetts Outstanding Vocational Student. Corey participated in Dual Enrollment during his senior year, and has achieved high honors all four years while at Diman. Corey volunteered at Angels Anonymous his junior and senior years. He was a member of the Football team all four years at Diman, and served as the teams Captain. Corey is currently employed through Diman’s Cooperative Education Program at GM Refrigeration in Fall River as an HVAC Apprentice. Corey will continue in his trade with GM Refrigeration and work to obtain his Apprentice License through Diman’s Evening School of Continuing Education.
Cody Ferreira | Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies
The Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies Program is pleased to name Cody Ferreira as their Outstanding Vocational Student. The son of Shelley and Michael Carmello, Cody lives in Fall River and is a graduate of the Morton Middle School. Cody earned high honors his freshmen, sophomore, and senior years, and the Principal’s List junior year. Cody earned academic excellence in English Language Arts his sophomore year. Cody is a member of SkillsUSA where he earned a gold medal at the district level in his junior and senior years for Welding, and a gold medal at the State Conference his senior year for Welding. Cody will be competing at the National Conference in June. Cody will continue in his trade with Fraser Engineering in Middleboro as a Pipe Welder.
Daniel Pleiss | Plumbing
Daniel Pleiss of Fall River has been named the Plumbing Program’s Outstanding Vocational Student. A graduate of the Atlantis Charter Middle School, Daniel is the son of Julia and Hank Pleiss. As a student in the Plumbing Program, Daniel has earned academic high honors all four years, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Daniel is the recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. Daniel was a member of SkillsUSA during his junior year where he earned a gold medal at the district competition. He was a member of the Varsity Tennis team during his sophomore year, and volunteered at Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen in his freshman year. He is currently employed through the Cooperative Education Program at O’Brien’s Plumbing and Heating in Fall River, as a Plumbing Apprentice. His future plans include maintaining his Cooperative Education Employment position, while continuing his education through the Diman Evening School Journeyman Plumbing Code class.
Cody Camara | Programming & Web Development
Fall River’s Cody Camara has been named the Outstanding Vocational Student for the Programming and Web Development Program. A graduate of the Morton Middle School, Cody is the son of Shelia Chouinard and Vasco Camara. Cody is a recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. Cody earned high honors all four years while at Diman. Cody’s plans include attending the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where he will pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
Jayden Mota | Licensed Practical Nurse Full-Time
Jayden Mota of Fall River, has been named the Licensed Practical Nurse Full-Time Program’s Outstanding Vocational Student. He is a member of the National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses. Jayden was also a member of the Student Government in 2020, as a student representative. Jayden served his community buy volunteering at SStar in Fall River as a Phlebotomist and Prevention Specialist. Jayden has been awarded and accepted a scholarship with Dartmouth House of Correction. His future goals include obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, with an end goal of being a Family Nurse Practitioner. Jayden would like to thank his mother, Lisa DeJesus for consistently showing him what it means to never regret; learn from your mistakes and the art of failure. As a single mother, her motivation, drive, and accountability has molded him into the man he is today and for that, he will be forever grateful.
McKaya Noel Rodriguez | Licensed Practical Nurse Part-Time
McKaya Noel Rodriguez is the Outstanding Vocational Student for the Licensed Practical Nurse Part- Time Day Program. A Westport resident, McKaya is a member of the Student Government, as a student representative, and she is a member of the National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses. McKaya started her career as a Certified Nurse Aid, at New Bedford Vocational Technical High School. Her lifelong dream to be a nurse and make a difference in someone’s life was fostered by visiting her mother who worked at a long- term care facility. She loved spending time with the residents on the units or in the activity room. McKaya is employed at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility in New Bedford, as a Certified Nurse Aid, where she will now work as a Licensed Practical Nurse, while pursuing her degree as a Registered Nurse.
