Plumbing Licensing Requirements

  • Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School seeks to provide excellent educational opportunities for its students.  As a student in the Plumbing program, students are afforded the opportunity to receive training, and earn hours toward their journeyman’s license.

Candidates wishing to become a plumber must complete the Massachusetts requirements for obtaining a journeyman’s license, which are 8,500 work hours and completing tiers 1 through 5. Individuals who have not attended a vocational program must have 5 years of work experience and 5 years of night school.

Students in the Diman Regional Plumbing Program receive credit towards those state requirements. Diman students receive a credit of 1,700 hours, as well as credit for tires 1 through 3.

Diman students must then complete 4 years of work experience and 2 years of night school, where they will complete tiers 4 and 5.
