Graphic Communications Shop Grading Agreement Contract

This is a teacher and student agreement contract for the calculation of the student’s grade for the Graphic Communications shop program.
The Graphic Communications shop grade is calculated by the following:
- 50% Technical Grade
- Workmanship, Time Management, Quality, Participation, Effort
- 50% Employability Grade
- Safety, Initiative, Preparation, Attitude, Respect
- =100% (when all of the above is tallied)
Employability Grade: Students are expected to follow safety rules (proper uniform), wear safety glasses, safety boots, maintain clean work area and clean all equipment, and return all tools to their proper place upon completing a task. Students are expected to stay on task, maintain their best effort, work independently, complete make-up work, come back for extra help when needed and use downtime effectively by working on file archiving, resume and work samples between jobs. Students are expected to turn in daily time sheets, be on time to class, in assigned area, ready for work, and participate in Q&A sessions regarding technical vocabulary and class critiques. These skills are graded everyday.
Technical Grade: Students are expected to keep all items organized and secure, use the correct software for the correct purpose, use their own notes, and use the proper industry recognized procedures/standards to complete the various tasks. Students are expected to complete the various tasks to industry standards within an acceptable timeframe. Students are expected to have a notebook or access to their notes in shop everyday and refer to their notes before seeking an instructor for help. Students are expected to demonstrate a positive attitude by following the school and shop rules, use appropriate language, interact appropriately with others and maintain self-control. These skills are graded everyday.

This is a teacher and student agreement for the calculation of the student’s grade and class conduct for the Graphic Communications Related classroom. The Graphic Communications Related classroom grade is calculated by the following:
- Homework 30%
- In Class Assignments and Quizzes 30%
- Tests 40%
- When all of the above is tallied 100%
Homework
Assignments will be given during the Related classroom time and expected to be completed for the next Related class unless otherwise noted by the teacher. Any homework handed in after the deadline will be considered late and receive an additional 10 point deduction in grade per day late. Each student is required to have a binder and notebook specifically for Related. Binders are to be kept organized and in good condition.
In Class Assignments and Quizzes
Students will be given quizzes and in class assignments throughout each cycle. These are to be completed within one class period and passed in to the teacher before the student exits the classroom at the end of the period. Students have one cycle to complete missing quizzes. After one cycle, the grade will remain zero.
Tests
Tests will be given to measure performance for units, projects, vocabulary and lessons. If the student is absent, the student has one cycle to complete the missing test . After one cycle, the grade will remain zero.
Class Participation
There is no individual grade for class participation. However, you will receive bonus points that can be applied to a test of your choosing. Class participation consists of verbal student participation in response to teacher-led discussions. You are expected to have read the chapter before the start of the cycle and we will not be reading the chapter in class.
Laptops
Each student will be assigned a specific laptop to utilize during the Related class time. Laptops are not to be removed from the Related area. Laptops are property of Diman RVTHS and will be respected by the student. If it is found that a student is using a laptop inappropriately, is on a website they were not direct to go to, or using the laptop in any other manner that is considered to be irresponsible the student will lose all privileges of using a laptop. If the student would like to gain access to the laptops again, the student will need to take it upon his/herself to request a meeting with the teacher, parent/guardian, and guidance counselor to discuss what is the appropriate use of a school issued laptop.

Senior Graphic Communications Related Grading and Class Conduct Agreement

This is a teacher and student agreement for the calculation of the student’s grade and class conduct for the Graphic Communications Related classroom. The Graphic Communications Related classroom grade is calculated by the following:
- Design Projects 70%
- Public Speaking 30%
- When all of the above is tallied 100%
Design Projects
Each cycle students will be assigned a specific design project focused on their conceptual business. Students are to utilize the Related classroom time to work on the assigned project. The project live file will be due at the close of the cycle. Each project will be graded differently so students should refer to the specific spec sheet posted on Google Classroom for the specific grading criteria. If absent, the student has one cycle to make up the missing work. After that, the project will be graded as is.
Public Speaking
Once per cycle students will partake in a public speaking activity. These assignments will begin as brief speaking activities and gradually progress into more in depth activities. These public speaking activities will help students prepare for the final business presentation which students will complete in May. Students will be graded according to a grading rubric. If a student is absent, the student is required to complete the activity the following Related period. If a student refuses to participate in the activity the student will receive a 0% Public Speaking grade.
Related Class Is For Related Work
Students are not to be working on assignments or projects for other classes while in Related. This includes viewing non-Related work, e-mailing, printing materials for other classes and so on. If a student is observed accessing materials for other classes the student will receive a deduction in points from the “Time On Task” grading portion for the current project. Students are not to leave the Related class to check in with other teachers, obtain work or assignments for other classes, etc.

Co-op and Extracurriculars
A student having a Co-op position, or participating in extracurriculars such as sports, clubs, and organizations does not exempt that student from attendance, classwork, and due dates. There are no exceptions. Your school work comes before your Co-op position and extracurriculars.
As is stated in the student’s handbook regarding co-op:
- Students must maintain a grade of 70 or higher in all classes to preserve eligibility.
- Students must adhere to the attendance policy in their senior year to continue participation in the Co-op program.
