    MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING

    JULY 13, 2016

     

                The regular meeting of the Greater Fall River Vocational School District Committee meeting was called to order at 11:45 a.m. by Chairman Paul Jennings of Westport, with the following persons in attendance:  Donald DiBiasio of Somerset, Thomas Chace of Fall River, and Joan Menard of Fall River.  Absent were Jeffrey Begin of Swansea and Rajiv Nehra of Fall River. Also in attendance were Deborah Kenney, School Business Administrator and Atty. Gregory Brilhante, Legal Counsel.  

                Mr. Jennings made the following announcement: In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 30A, Section 20(f), any member of the public may make an audio or video recording of this public meeting.  A member of the public who wishes to record a meeting must first notify the chair and must comply with reasonable requirements regarding audio or video equipment established by the chair so as not to interfere with the meeting.

                The roll call was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. 

                Mrs. Kenney explained that the student parking lot bid was opened earlier in the morning.  The lowest bidder was Sunshine Paving of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts in the amount of $200,000.  Mrs. Kenney further explained that Century Paving of Fall River, Massachusetts came in at $243,600 and U.S. Pavement of Woburn, Massachusetts came in at $218,470.  Mr. Chace questioned whether all of the work will be completed including the drops, drains, etc.  Mr. Benevides stated yes.  The project will be completed before school starts.  Mrs. Kenney recommends that the Committee award the bid to Sunshine Paving. 

    It was moved by Mr. DiBiasio, seconded by Mr. Chace, and voted unanimously to award the student parking lot contract to Sunshine Paving of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts.  Mr. Jennings expressed his concern about any additional cost to the District.  Mrs. Kenney explained that the bid is valid and there will be a written contract.         

    It was moved by Mr. DiBiasio, seconded by Ms. Menard, and voted unanimously to enter into an employment contract with the Business Administrator, Deborah Kenney, as negotiated.

    It was moved by Mr. DiBiasio, seconded by Ms. Menard, and voted unanimously to enter into the first addendum to the employment contract with the Assistant Superintendent/Principal, Kyle Alves, as negotiated.

                It was moved by Mr. DiBiasio, seconded by Mr. Chace, and voted unanimously to adjourn at 11:59 a.m.
