Matthew Pires

Matthew Pires* is the Outstanding Vocational Student for the Drafting program. A graduate of Morton Middle School, Matthew is the son of William and Michelle Pires of Fall River.
He is ranked in the top 20% of the Class of 2016 and has dominated at SkillsUSA competitions; winning Automated Manufacturing Technology district gold medals each of the last three years, as well as a state gold medal and a national 6th place finish in 2015. This April, Matthew won a bronze medal at the state SkillsUSA conference in Marlborough. He gives back to the community as a member of Diman’s Drafting Advisory Board and as a volunteer at the Greater Fall River Children’s Aquarium. Additionally, Matthew worked on the design of the 2015 Pi Day event.
Matthew currently works through Diman’s Cooperative Education Program as a drafter at Teknikor and will pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering at UMass Dartmouth.
