The Outstanding Vocational Student for Culinary Arts this year is Daylan Torres*. The son of Jose and Sandra Torres of Fall River and a graduate of Saints Peter and Paul School, Daylan has earned a spot on the honor roll every term at Diman and is currently ranked in the top 10 percent of the class of 2016.
But Daylan is more than just a good student, he’s also a talented baker, having won SkillsUSA district gold and state silver medals each of the last two years, as well as a second place finish in the Trade Fair cake decorating contest in 2015. In addition, Daylan has given back to the community by volunteering at the St. Anthony of Padula Soup Kitchen since 2013.
Daylan will expand his skill-set next year at Johnson & Wales University, where he will major in Baking/Pastry Arts and Food Service Management.
