UNEXPIRED TERM FULFILLMENT

FILLING VACANCIES

I. If a vacancy occurs among the members appointed under subsection I (C), the Mayor of Fall River shall appoint within 30 days after receipt of official notice that a vacancy exists a member to fill the unexpired term of office. If a vacancy occurs among the elected members under subsection I (D), the selectmen and the local School Committee members from the town concerned acting jointly shall appoint within 30 days after receipt of official notice that a vacancy exists a member to serve until the next annual town election, at which annual election a successor shall be elected to serve for the balance of the unexpired term.

II. An existing District School Committee member who submits his/her resignation terminates his/her duties at the time of his/her resignation unless he/she states in his/her resignation a specific time at which their resignation will take effect.

III. Should a District School Committee member move out of the town or city which elected or appointed him/her to office, he/she shall be deemed to have vacated that office (General Laws Chapter 41, Section 109).
