Mrs. Maria Torres is the Assistant Principal of Technical Affairs at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School located in Fall River, MA.  As Assistant Principal of Technical Affairs, Mrs. Torres is responsible for overseeing and managing the technical programs at Diman.  Some of this work includes, but is not limited to, managing technical curriculum, overseeing Perkins grant allocations, facilitating outside projects, and serving as Diman’s liaison to the technical education groups at DESE.

As the Assistant Principal of Technical Affairs, Mrs. Torres brings with her extensive knowledge not only about educational administration, but also about the unique needs of technical students as they prepare for future career and industry successes.  For Mrs. Torres, this knowledge comes from a combination of industry, teaching, and leadership experiences, combined with a rigorous formal education.  Prior to entering into this administrative position, Mrs. Torres completed over thirty years of Dental Assisting field experience, 18 years of technical teaching experience, and 10 years of Dental Assisting Department Head experience.  It is because of this background that Mrs. Torres is now able to consider the student, teacher, parent, and industry aspects in each decision that she makes.

In addition to her work with technical educators, Mrs. Torres routinely focuses her efforts upon maintaining several industry certifications and actively participating in professional committees and groups.   Currently, Mrs. Torres is certified as a Dental Assistant by the Dental Assisting National Board.  She is registered as a Dental Assistant through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Board of Registration in Dentistry and has completed a Hot Works Certificate Program, while also maintaining her OSHA 10 certificate in Construction Safety and Health.  As a professional educator, Mrs. Torres holds a Massachusetts Professional License as a Teacher in Dental Assisting and Massachusetts Administrator licenses as both Director/Supervisor and Principal, 9-12.  As part of the preparatory work for these licenses, Mrs. Torres completed both a B.A. in Occupational Education and a M.A. in Education at Fitchburg State University.
