General Shop Program
Program Overview
The General Shop Program is offered to approximately 16 ninth grade students. This one-year program provides these students with an opportunity to explore various vocational areas such as basic woodworking, wood finishing, machine tool work, metal work and small engine repair.
Students spend a half day in shop and a half day in academics. During the half-day academic periods, they receive instruction in English, Math, Science and Literature.
At mid-year, each General Shop student is reviewed to determine his/her vocational and academic progress. Those who display the necessary vocational and academic skills are provided with the opportunity to transfer into other vocational programs upon available openings.
