Diman Donates 52 Pints of Blood

Editor's Note: For the first time, I, Paul Rego, gave blood. It felt strange having a needle in me, but, all and all, it wasn't too bad. Once I got up, I went to the table, I felt woozy, the bell rang, and the next thing I know - a wave of people in white jackets came at me and I was on the ground. I had to stay behind and wait for my head to clear, but once that was done, I felt great because I helped someone in need. Here are some more details...

On Monday, December 5, 2005 Diman held its annual Red Cross Blood Drive. I am pleased to report that Diman donated 52 pints of blood. Once again, the Diman community has surpassed its goal of 50 pints.

Dr. Maureen Cain, my co-chair, the students of Health Careers, and the Students Advisory Council are to be commended for their services in making this year's drive a success. Mrs. Ann Marie Zenni, and the students from Office Technology are to be commended for typesetting the schedule list of donors. Mr. Joseph Sousa and the students from Graphic Arts are likewise to be commended for their assistance in printing the schedule. A special debt of gratitude is to be afforded to Mr. Edward Kerr and the Culinary Arts Department for providing coffee, pastry, and lunch to members of the Red Cross.

A grateful note of appreciation is expressed to Mrs. Melissa Baron-Cyr, Mr. Michael Valerio, Mr. Martin Bernat, Mr. Stephen Blanchette, Mr. Michael Kertyzak, Mrs. Rose Walde, Mrs. Maureen Pacheo, and Mr. Rebello for allowing students from their classes to collect names for this year's drive.

I am very appreciative to Mr. Rogerio Ramos and Mr. Brian Bentley for providing me the time with which to coordinate this year's efforts.
