On May 6th, 2009, 14 students from different construction shops at
Diman attended Construction Career Day at the New England Laborer's
Training Center in Hopkinton, MA with chaperones Mr. Camara
and Ms. Rebello. As the students arrived to the construction
site, they were each handed a backpack that contained a hard hat and
safety glasses. At Career Day, students were able to operate heavy
machinery such as an excavator, backhoe, steam roller and road paver.
After students attended lunch they observed different company exhibits,
and participated in hands on activities including making tool boxes,
welding and tree climbing. After a great educational day students
left with experience of machine operating and many other trades.
