Take a look around you. Whether you are in school, at the mall, at work, or in any public place for that matter, you will notice a diverse group of people going about their day-to-day activities. They may look different, dress different, and speak a different language, but that does not mean they are inferior. Accepting other people’s differences and appreciating these differences is an important part of tolerance. In this day and age, there is no excuse for ignorance or prejudice, and the best way to overcome any fear or apprehension you have about others is to learn about them! The Diversity Club gets together on a monthly basis to discuss any issues that we see or to address any intolerance we observe around the school and community. Diversity Club meetings take place at 7:30 in the morning, so they don’t interfere with sports or other after-school programs. This Club is a great way to get to know more people, get involved, and have a good time.
Diversity Club Mission Statement: “To promote diversity and give support to students and staff on multi-cultural issues in school and community. The group takes a stand against prejudice and hatred and promotes an appreciation and understanding of tolerance of others and education for all.”
