WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007

A Game Review by Daniel Hollenbach '09

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 has more depth than the staged fights we're used to seeing on TV. These games requires strategy, skill, and a true love for the sport and game. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 seems to be about as good as it can get, especially on the Xbox 360. This version offers everything but the kitchen sink. It features all of the modes from the last game with a few new ones which, as you may already know, is a in a word a "heck of a bunch of modes." The main story mode is the plot of the game, but it's the on and offline multi-player modes that make this title worth the money. The control system has gone through some refinements which make things feel smoother and more realistic. Grappling is now limited to the analog stick and feels more context-sensitive, although you do have full control over your moves at all times. By moving the stick in various directions, you will access your character's different grappling moves.

In Season mode you can make your own wrestling super star. Create a character in any way you want to make him/her. From clothes to size to color this mode provides hundreds of features. After you character is made you can pick your entrance and music. The longest and probably the most boring mode is trying to get your character's moves, such as punches, kicks, and grapples. Once you get through that you are ready to start your season. You can start out a newcomer and become world champion, build stats through experience from fighting, design your own locker room to your liking, and be a dirty fighter or a clean one.

This game comes on two game systems, The Xbox 360 and the Playstation 2. I have played on the 360 and the graphics are phenomenal, almost like the real super stars. You can even see the sweat coming off the characters. As for the Playstation 2, I haven't played it myself but I have watched and although the graphics are pretty good it is nothing like the 360. I enjoyed this game. For an overall grade I would give WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. It's definitely a great buy if you ask me.
