Program Content
The Full-Time Day Program occurs over a 40-week period. Three weeks vacation are planned and holidays as designated by the School and State are recognized. The Part-Time Evening Program occurs over an 80-week period. Summer break and six weeks vacation are planned and holidays as designated by the School and State are recognized. The Programs are arranged to give the student a well rounded experience based on currently accepted concepts of nursing education and include correlated classroom instruction, client-centered teaching and supervised clinical experiences. LicensureGraduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination as a Practical Nurse. (NCLEX-PN) Admission Requirements and Procedures1. Completed Application to include:
School Policy stipulates that the address on the application will serve to classify the student as in/out of district. In district residents will be required to submit three (3) verifications of address upon receipt of letter of acceptance into the Program. 2. Pre-entrance Examination: The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is required. Applicants must achieve required minimum scores for consideration (please refer to web site). Applicants requesting special accommodations should notify the office prior to the scheduled test date. Applicants who have tested previously at another site must contact the test vendor (ATI) to forward an official test score sheet. Student copies will not be accepted. 3. Interviews: Applicants should contact the school to set up an appointment after they have received their test results. 4. References: Applicants meeting the minimum testing scores will receive three (3) forms to be given to appropriate references, one of which should include a former or present employer. 5. Background check: Applicants are required to pass, according to school policy, CORI background checks prior to the start of the Program. Clinical agencies reserve the right to require repeat or additional checks. Any cost of these will be student responsibility. Preference is given to completed applications received by January 31st of year you are applying Admissions close March 15th HealthPre-entrance health examinations are required of all incoming students: Financial AssistanceFinancial Assistance is available to students in the form of Pell Grants and State Scholarships ONLY. Further information is available upon request. This assistance may not be used to pay tuition. Diman does not certify student loans. Personal loans are acceptable. Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing Policy Effective January 1, 2005Initial applicants for a Massachusetts License will be required by law governing nurse licensure to be of "good moral character". Upon request, applicants for the Practical Nursing Program can receive an
information sheet intended to assist the initial applicant with one or more
criminal conviction(s) and/or with past or pending disciplinary action against
a professional/trade licensure/certificate to prepare for the Board's evalua-
tion of the applicant's compliance with the statutory "good moral character"
