A Message to Parents and Students regarding Scholarship Information

A very wide variety of Scholarships are made available every year through school, various organizations, local companies etc., to graduating seniors continuing their education at the post-secondary level. Each year across the United States millions of dollars are awarded to seniors who take the time to search, locate and apply. Criteria vary greatly from scholarship to scholarship; however, many require no specific criteria other than the students are in financial need and are continuing his/her education.

Senior Dues Information 2007-2008

Senior Dues are assessed to each member of the Senior Class to pay for his or her Cap & Gown and the Senior Yearbook. The payment of Senior Dues is critical to keeping the assessment affordable.

This year's Senior Dues will be $150. This is the same as last year's assessment.

Senior dues will be assessed to all graduating class members. One-half (1/2) of the total dues should be made by the end of January. The balance will be due by April 1st (2008) It is recommended that Seniors on CO-OP pay one-half (1/2) their dues before they leave for their CO-OP employment. Late penalty fees will be assessed if the dues are not paid by April 1st according to the schedule below:

  • Fully Paid by April 1st 2008 : $150.00
  • April 2nd to April 11th : $160.00
  • April 14th to April 30th : $175.00
  • May 1st to Sign-out: $200.00

SENIOR DUES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

FINDING SCHOLARSHIPS

A surprising number of students fail to see that identifying scholarships can be one of the most important parts of the successful scholarship search. There are thousands and thousands of scholarships available to students through internet searches and scholarship guides, but no one student will qualify for all of them. Even if one person were to qualify for all of them, though, most students probably don't have the time to apply for each and every one. For this reason, a well-defined scholarship search can be invaluable to students looking for some extra money to fund their education, research proposal, or community service project.

The best and cheapest way to run a scholarship search is to find a good, reliable scholarship search engine like www.FastWEB.com and www.Scholarships.com. Internet searches are free (or they should be!), and unlike scholarship guides that simply list awards, even when they are sorted by subject matter, the internet can help you filter out awards for which you simply don't qualify. This means finding scholarships that are best suited to who you are, both as a student and as a person.

Diman based Scholarship information will be updated regularly as scholarships become available. We ask that students see their Guidance Counselor with any questions regarding scholarship applications.
