Diman Recycling Program

On Wednesday, January 7, 2009, Diman will begin a recycling program. This program is in conjunction with Allied Waste Management who has provided Diman with the recycling bins that you have seen appear in the corridors the week before vacation.

Each classroom will be supplied with a "blue recycling trash barrel", similar to your classroom trash barrel, to collect the paper to be recycled. Procedurally, the paper that is to be placed into the recycling barrels is limited to the following ONLY:

  • White Composition Paper
  • White Copy Paper
  • White Printer Paper

Products NOT to be placed into the barrels is everything else NOT mentioned above. Prohibited items include:

  • Math Paper (yellow or beige)
  • Graph Paper
  • Paper bags (lunch bags, grocery bags, etc…)
  • Paper cups (including the Starbuck coffee cups)
  • Styrofoam cups
  • Paper plates
  • Paper napkins
  • Paper towels of any kind

It is our hope that this first step in "going green" will lead to more steps Diman can take to be conscious of our efforts in this endeavor. We, along with Mr. Benevides the Director of buildings and Grounds, seek your cooperation in Diman's going green by having one of your students empty the blue recycle barrel in your room into one of the large BLUE BINS in the corridor. If this could be done every day, or on a needs-be basis, it would be greatly appreciated and it would get our students into the habit of recognizing what the Blue Bins are for as well as having them participate in our green effort.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Benevides by e-mail or at his extension of 1630.
