Shop Breaks: Are They Healthy?

Scientists are becoming more aware of the problem with child and teen obesity in America. With this in mind, let's take a moment to think about the food we eat during shop. Every day at about 9:30am every shop in the school orders break from Culinary Arts. The break consists of donuts for 50 cents and milk for 25 cents. However, when you are eating that donut, is it healthy? Research tells us that a plain donut consists of 185 calories as opposed to something that you could bring in from home.
For example, an apple has only 47 calories. That is a big difference. If you want to stay healthy, I would advise you to think twice about buying two donuts and two milks for break, which would be almost 600 calories! That's equal to an entire meal. Remember, an apple a day keeps the doctor away!
